Patterson, Harry: To Catch a King.

Patterson, Harry - To Catch a King. BCA, 1979. In July 1940 Walter Schellenberg, SSBrigadefuhrer and major-general of police, was ordered by Hitler to proceed to Lisbon to kidnap the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, then staying in a villa at Estoril after fleeing the German occupation of France. This story is an attempt to re-create the events surrounding that astonishing episode. Although certain sections must obviously be a matter of conjecture, a considerable amount is documented historical fact and the person who emerges from the whole bizarre affair with most credit is the Duke of Windsor himself. (back cover). 224pp, blue cloth, silver blocking, hardback. Slightly sunned spine; top-front corner of front-board bumped; very good; complete with very good (slightly sunned spine, slight edge-wear) wrapper.
